Once, the Abbey of Sesto was guarded by as many as seven towers. Today, two are still visible, along with traces of two others along the perimeter of the monastery. The first one we encounter is Torre Grimani, named after the ancient and noble Venetian family that governed the abbey from the early 1500s to 1627.

Torre Grimani, on the facade, beneath the Lion of Saint Mark and the stone and fresco coat of arms of the Grimani family, displays some female figures, an allegory of the Good Government of the Serenissima.
