Il borgo
Small jewel of Western Friuli, rich in history and monuments…
A castle, a medieval village, the ancient parish church and the oldest Marian sanctuary of the diocese…
Land of poetic inspiration for great writers such as Ippolito Nievo and PierPaolo Pasolini, it is home to the literary park “Ippolito Nievo”.
The area of Cordovado was inhabited in the Roman era and perhaps earlier, but the documented history begins in the Middle Ages, linked to the events of the large agricultural complex (Curtis) that extended near the ford on an ancient branch of the Tagliamento (Vadum).
Since 2004, it is one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy!
Cordovado is an area of waters, ditches, springs, and artificial lakes thanks to the old quarries.
It boasts 23 public fountains. A green land with numerous large, centuries-old and multi-centuries-old trees: the hackberry of Mainardi park, the weeping sophora and the Japanese sophora of Cecchini park, the bald cypresses of Madonna park, the plane tree at the north tower of the castle, the almost century-old hybrid linden of Piazza al Tiglio.
