Casa Calligaris Foffani

Casa Calligaris Foffani is an architectural complex dating back to the 16th century, adorned on the outside with rustic ashlar from the late 1800s, which overlooks the main square of the village.

The property has been recognized as belonging to the Calligaris family since the 17th century; archival documents demonstrate its winemaking vocation, with wine production documented as early as the year 1789.

This structure, with its agricultural outbuildings forming a small village within the larger village of Clauiano, is characteristic of pre-Venetian bourgeois architecture.

For this reason, the entire complex is now protected by the Superintendence of Architectural Heritage.

The manor house features austere architectural forms on the outside and consists of some fine rooms found in the noble villas of the Friulian plain.

It is particularly interesting to visit the business structure inside: beyond the cellars, crossing the gardens leads to the historic moat that encircles the village, beyond which lies the extensive vineyard, producing excellent wines.

Currently, it is the headquarters of a winemaking company, with a characteristic agritourism, a comfortable B&B, and hosts the permanent art exhibition “I Colori del Vino”.
