Casa Barnaba Manin
Casa Barnaba-Manin is one of the oldest houses in Clauiano, dating back to 1563, and represents in its construction type the classic house of the Friulian rural village. Through the stone and brick arched portals, one can separately access the internal courtyard of the residence, where the rustic buildings (former stable, barn, etc.) are located; the boundary walls, built with the same skillful technique of stone and brick, separate the garden from the vegetable garden. Inside the residence, there is the typical “fogolâr” that opens onto the large kitchen and, together with the “spolert,” is used for cooking food and better heating the environment.
It is known that until 1563 the building was configured as a sedime, that is, a rural house, owned by Jannoni de Savorgnano of Udine. In 1650, it was known to be owned by the noble Fistulario family. In the early 1800s, the house became the property of the Barnaba family (as demonstrated by the coat of arms carved on the stone arch of the entrance door). When Felicità Barnaba married Count Orazio Manin, the house also passed by inheritance to the Manin family.
Currently, the residence hosts a splendid and refined B&B that, restored with great sensitivity, has preserved the magic of the past unaltered.
