Piazza Mercato was originally located just outside the second city wall. The historical importance of the buildings on its western side is given by the layout of this defensive element. Among all, Palazzo della Donna stands out with its 18th-century appearance that incorporates ancient medieval structures, as documented by the pictorial decorations found inside, dating back to the early 15th century and the 17th century.
The corner building features a main facade with a stone portal, topped by a framed single-light balcony, and symmetrically arranged framed windows. Notable is the structural solution of the corner, supported by a column with a capital, adorned with the coat of arms of the Valvasone. Since 1883, the palace has been the municipal seat.
