Hiking
In the beautiful Sappada basin, surrounded by splendid Dolomite groups, there are 60 km of trails, which become 120 if you consider the connections in the extra-municipal area.
Some are equipped trails and via ferratas.
For mountain enthusiasts, the location offers hikes of all levels (including organized ones), from simple walks to alpine ascents. In a natural amphitheater of rare beauty, at an altitude of 1816 m, the Piave River originates.
There are numerous routes in the area that lead to the beauties of the majestic Peralba, Avanza, Chiadenis, and Pic Chiadenis, mountains where fierce battles were fought during the First World War and where numerous testimonies such as forts, tunnels, and summit positions are still present today.
Further traces of the wartime period can also be seen near the Laghi d’Olbe, at Passo del Mulo, or on the summit of Monte Lastroni, reachable in summer with the Sappada 2000 chairlifts, which allow you to ascend to a maximum altitude of 2000 meters and from there continue on foot.
For those who want to immerse themselves in nature, the magnificent forests surrounding the village offer the possibility of relaxing walks in the greenery in contact with lush nature.
