The only example of a city of foundation still intact in its form of nine-pointed star, Palmanova in one of the most important models of military architecture in the modern age. A fortified structure organized on three defensive circles and a urban design arranged on radial axes.

It was founded  in 1593 by the Serenissima Republic of Venice with the aim of opposing the expansionist ambitions of the Habsburgs of Austria anche the raids of the Turks. From 9th July 2017 Palmanova in UNESCO World Heritage Site - 53rd italian site on the list.
