Before Santa Maria
By the first half of the 8th century, the church preceding the erection of the current abbey church should be placed, investigated through a series of excavation campaigns and whose perimeter has currently been highlighted in the ground with modern stones. The building had a single nave ending to the east with a semicircular apse, flanked by two square-plan chapels also equipped with an apse.
