The masterpiece of Lombard sculpture

Mysterious and beautiful object, the "Urna di Sant'Anastasia", which owes its name to the fact that it houses the relics of the saint, was originally created as a lectern for sacred books.

The artifact, which constitutes one of the most significant testimonies of early medieval artistic culture in the upper Adriatic area, features a rich decoration that develops on the three faces of a single block of white marble of Greek origin.

The most important face, which serves as a cover, is divided into three sections: in the central one, a blossomed cross dominates, enclosed within a round decorated with a herringbone pattern, while in the upper and lower sections appear two pairs of twisted arches.
