Gradisca d'Isonzo

Discover

Built between the 16th and 17th centuries, this massive palace, born from the combination of several buildings, is one of the oldest in the city and was the residence of Count Rizzardo di Strassoldo, commander of the fortress of Gradisca during the period of the Gradiscan Wars (1615-1617). From Strassoldo it passed into the ownership of the Pace family and later of the Carnelli and Mistruzzi de Frisinga families.

The building, which has remained practically intact inside and features a large courtyard at the back, is accessed from Calle Corona, but the façade on Via Ciotti is of considerable impact, with a monumental rectangular portal.
