The fearsome Inquisition arrived as far as Poffabro. A hearing was held (1648-1650) against some witches who apparently gathered each Thursday for the Sabbath in the Mangustât field, behind Mount Raut. This is also the land of ogres, elves and “anguani”, water creatures that change their appearance every three days: sometimes they are beautiful women, at other times they are slimy snakes.
