Cjase Cocèl
The house, an ancient rural dwelling dating back in some parts to the 1600s, presents the daily life and farming work of Friuli from an era that spans from the late 1800s to around the 1950s, before the major changes that occurred from the 1960s onwards.
The name, Cjase Cocél, refers to the Chiarvesio family, (nickname Cocél) who lived there for many years.
The visitor finds a lively house with its environments: the kitchen, the rooms, the cellar, the granary, the farmyard, the workroom and people performing various tasks with ancient tools: the basket maker (zeâr), the blacksmith (fari), the miller (mulinâr), the grinder (gue), the woman spinning wool (filandere) and the lace makers.
Linked to the family economy are activities related to clothing, especially for women: from various textile fibers to the loom for weaving. In this sector, the bobbin lace activity, a peculiarity of Fagagna, is included. The classroom of the ancient school has been reconstructed, and its history is documented with photographs, correspondence, certificates, diplomas, and samples.
With particular care, a small farm has been created next to the house, where the central avenue of mulberry trees (necessary for silkworm breeding), six rows of vines with the usual Friulian viticulture varieties, and various types of vegetables are planted.
Completing the compendium of the Friulian house are the structures that host activities connected with agricultural work: the threshing machine (trebie), the mill (mulin) and the forge (farie).
