Amor Dei
«Charity is magnanimous, benevolent is charity; it is not envious, it does not boast, it is not puffed up with pride, it does not lack respect, it does not seek its own interest, it is not angry, it does not take account of the wrong received, it does not rejoice in injustice but rejoices in the truth. It excuses everything, believes everything, hopes everything, endures everything». It is the famous praise of Saint Paul in the first letter to the Corinthians. We believe that many people have thought of it, as this year the theme of the XXXIII edition of the International Festival of Sacred Music is that of Charity, that is, of Love we can also say, since, according to the apostle John, «God is Love».
This is why the three art exhibitions that accompany the Festival again this year are titled on the theme of Love, precisely Amor Dei, Amor Hominis, Amor Naturae.
Christian love is indeed towards God, but also towards one's fellow beings and towards all creation, as Francis of Assisi reminds us in his famous Canticle.
Amor Dei, and here at the Centro Iniziative Culturali Pordenone we thought of the icons of Claudio Mrakic. The artist from Gorizia has always maintained relationships, both in sculpture and painting, with the Byzantine tradition, which exerted an evident fascination on him. He has created many “modern icons”, very little known, which today very well represent that Amor Dei, which is the theme of the exhibition in Sesto al Reghena: Amor Dei. The Icons of Claudio Mrakic
