This is Torre Grimani, the name of which derives from the Patrician-Venetian family who were the ecclesiastic lords of the abbey from the early 1500s to 1627. Under the St Mark’s Lion and the house’s coat of arms, frescoes with female figures have allegorical significance, symbolising the good governance of theRepublic of Venice.
